Thực trạng loãng xương và một số yếu tố liên quan ở người cao tuổi xã Tam Thanh, huyện Vụ Bản, tỉnh Nam Định (Prevalence of osteoporosis and related factors among elderly people in Tam Thanh commune, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province)

Đặt vấn đề: Trong những năm gần đây loãng xương (LX ) được xem là một vấn đề sức khỏe  y tế công cộng  toàn  cầu  có ảnh hưởng  đến hàng  triệu  người  trên  toàn  thế giới,  đặc biệt là người  cao tuổi. Do vậy việc tìm hiểu thực trạng  về vấn đề này là rất  cần  thiết.  Mục  tiêu:  (i) Xác định  tình trạng loãng xương và (ii) Xác định   một số yếu tố liên  quan đến tình trạng loãng xương. Phương pháp: Nghiên cứu mô tả cắt  ngang được tiến hành ngẫu nhiên trên 250 đối tượng là người cao tuổi  tại  xã Tam Thanh, một  xã thuần  nông huyện Vụ Bản, tỉnh Nam Định.  Kết quả: Kết quả cho thấy   tỷ lệ LX  là 52,8% và thiểu sản xương là 31,2%. Chỉ  có 16% người cao tuổi tham gia nghiên   cứu có mật độ xương bình thường. Phân tích đa biến tìm thấy hai yếu tố liên  quan đến tình trạng LX . Những người # 70 tuổi có nguy cơ mắc bệnh cao hơn 2,9 lần so với những  người  dưới 70 tuổi. Những người không có thói  quen sử dụng   thực  phẩm  giàu  calci có nguy cơ mắc bệnh cao hơn 13,9 lần so với những  người  còn lại. Khuyến nghị: Người cao tuổi cần được  phòng loãng xương trước 70 tuổi và được  tư vấn  sử dụng những loại thực phẩm giàu calci có sẵn tại  địa  phương.

English abstract:

Introduction:  In recent years, osteoporosis has been seen as a global public health problem that affected millions of people worldwide, especially among elderly people. Therefore, understanding the current status of this problem is much needed. Objectives: (i) to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis and (ii) to explore the related factors. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 250 elderly subjects (=>60  years old) selected at random in Tam Thanh commune, an agricultural  commune, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province. Result: The results showed that the prevalence of osteoporosis is 52.8% among the elderly population in that commune. Multivariate analysis found two factors related to the status of osteoporosis. Those who were # 70 years of age were at risk of osteoporosis 2.9 times higher than those who were under 70 years of age. Those who did not have the habit of using calcium-rich foods were at risk of osteoporosis 13.9 times higher than the remaining members. Recommendation: Elderly people should be prevented from osteoporosis before 70 years of age and consulted to take the calcium-rich foods available locally for their daily meals.
