Marital rape in people with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam
Abstract
The paper describes sexual rape in marriage of people with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)[1]. This research adopted qualitative method with in-depth interviews of 18 people with disabilities including vision impairments, hearing impairments, and physical impairments. The findings revealed that sexual rape happened in families of people with disabilities. The levels of sexual rape were different from each type of disabilities, in particular coercion and domestic violence in families with hearing impairments. The more silent of these wives, the more serious of rape in their families. A sexual and reproductive health campaign should be applied as soon as possible to help them improve their awareness.
